Jongo S3, is an affordable portable wireless speaker with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and is the first product to be announced as part of the Jongo wireless family - the world's first mainstream multiroom audio range. Jongo S3 canbe used on its own or combined in groups to deliver the most affordable multiroom audio available. Thanks to built-in Wi-Fi, synchronized audio content can be played simultaneously across multiple Jongo speakers in a single ormultiroom environment.

Bluetooth is included for more informal, one-to-one streaming which is ideal for use in the garden or sharing the fun with friends. Jongo offersrich, detailed and vibrant sound despite its size and comes with four tweeters for Degree sound, and an upward-firing subwoofer for powerful bass.

Thanks to its five speakers and individual power amplifiers, Jongo has surprisinglypunchy audio and with a simple press of the "audio" button on the rear of the unit, the user can select flexible sound modes for any environment including o sound for community listening stereo or merged ; front-firing stereo or abass boost for outdoor use or stereo pair when paired Jongo is rechargeable with up to 10 hours of portable listening per charge.

Controlling Jongo could not be easier thanks to the Pure Connect app for iPad, iPhone and Android, enabling you to stream all of the music stored on your device as well as Internet radio, on-demand programs and millions of tracks from the Pure Music subscription service.

One to one music streaming from other apps is catered for viaBluetooth. Jongo comes in 2 colors black and white but additional user-fit speaker grills are available in burnt orange, lime and mango as an accessory.

That flexibility sounds great in theory, but the overall experience killed our enthusiasm. Setting up the speakers required far too much hoop jumping even for a dedicated audiophile , and both units tended to disconnect from the network without warning. To top it off, the S3's sound quality falls flat. The S3 resembles a network drive with speaker grilles, and the petite A2 looks like something you might kick around in a football match.

On the S3, you can also customize the sound — only playing music on the front speaker, say, or boosting sound for outdoor use. Just press the Audio button to change soundscapes. On the front, there are volume and mute buttons. If you connect using a 3. The utilitarian A2 adapter has an optical audio port, coaxial, and RCA stereo, so you connect it to your home stereo and stream music over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

The free Pure Connect iOS or Android app lets you stream one of about 20, Internet radio stations, one of about , podcasts and talk shows, or a music channel that plays background tracks like ocean sounds or ambient rock. You can also stream music from your device using the Bluetooth connection. The S3 lasts for about 10 hours per charge if you use it as a portable speaker. But the S3's sound quality is not going to make you ditch your Sonos — and I certainly would not recommend you choose the Pure system over the Sonos in a head-to-head battle.

The Jongo S3 has good bass response, thanks to an extra 3. There are four 2. Music by the dance-pop band Heaven sounded rich and smooth thanks to the extra subwoofer. Jimmy Eats World's version of power-pop with a hint of emo had a lush quality our outdoor party guests enjoyed.
