On the basis of excavations done during the British period, archaeologists and historians estimate that this was a highly developed civilization and these cities have been settled and ruined many times. The most special thing about this civilization was the developed city building plan here. Both Harappa and Mohenjodaro had their own forts where the family of the ruling class lived.
Each town had a lower-level town outside the fort where ordinary people lived in brick houses. The special thing about these city buildings was that they were configured like a net. That is, the roads intersected each other at right angles and the city was divided into many rectangular sections. This was applicable to all the Indus settlements whether they were small or large.
